Snapdragon Services Android API version required

Hello, I am aware that my setup is not officially supported but hopefully I can receive a little help. I am using and developing a SnapdragonSpaces application for the XR2+ chip. I have the OpenQ XR SoM from Lantronix and they only provide the BSP for Android OS 10. For use of the Snapgradon Spaces Plugin, it only requires API Level 29 - Android 10, so I would think that the minimum API for services is 29 since you need Services for Spaces. But when trying to install the Services APK on the Android 10 SoM, it failed due to needing API Level 30, Android 11. Is there something that can be done so I can use Android 10 with the Services apk?

Hello, thanks for reaching out and for the detailed context.

At this time, the OpenQ XR SoM from Lantronix is not a supported platform on the Snapdragon Spaces support channel. Snapdragon Spaces Services and the Snapdragon Spaces runtime are validated and supported only on specific reference devices and partner platforms listed in our official documentation.

Regarding your specific question:
While portions of the Snapdragon Spaces SDK target API level 29 (Android 10), the Snapdragon Spaces Services APK itself requires API level 30 (Android 11). This dependency is intentional and not configurable, which is why the Services APK cannot be installed on an Android 10–based BSP. There is currently no supported workaround to run Snapdragon Spaces Services on Android 10.

Because the OpenQ XR SoM BSP you are using is limited to Android 10, this combination falls outside the supported Snapdragon Spaces configurations. For guidance on OS upgrades, BSP availability, or platform‑specific customization, we recommend working directly with Lantronix, as they own and maintain the BSP for that hardware.

If your goal is to continue developing with Snapdragon Spaces, the supported path would be to use one of the officially supported devices or reference platforms that meet the Android 11 (or later) requirement.

Thanks for your understanding, and we appreciate your interest in Snapdragon Spaces.
